This treatment involves exposing individuals to extremely cold dry air (below −100 °C) for two to three minutes. To achieve the subzero temperatures that are required for WBC liquid nitrogen is used. During the exposure, individuals wear minimal clothing, which usually consists of shorts for males, and shorts and a crop top for females. Gloves, dry shoes and socks are also worn to reduce the risk of cold-related injury. The first WBC chamber was built in Japan in the late 1970s, introduced to Europe in the 1980s, and has been used in the US and Australia in the past decade.
Whole Body Cryotherapy can be used to effectively treat a number of conditions and to improve patients’ overall health. If you’re looking to decrease pain, accelerated muscle healing, or simply improve general health and wellness or solutions to any of the other conditions below,
Inflammatory conditions such as fibromyalgia, psoriasis, and arthritis are chronic pain, redness, swelling, or stiffness caused by the body’s natural response to an injury. Because Whole Body Cryotherapy enhances the body’s natural healing mechanisms, WBC can be a very effective anti-inflammatory treatment for the following conditions, among others:
Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain disorder caused by overstimulation of your brain’s pain sensors. Because Whole Body Cryotherapy works by manipulating pain sensors into implementing a heightened level of your body’s natural healing mechanisms in response to cooler temperatures, many patients have experienced long-term relief from fibromyalgia thanks to WBC.
Psoriasis is caused by the overstimulated growth of skin cells. During the Whole Body Cryotherapy session, this growth is temporarily slowed so that the body can focus on transporting blood to extremities in order to keep them warm. After the session is complete, skin cell growth is “reset” back to normal levels, resulting not only in the effects of psoriasis being minimized but also in a healthier, more youthful complexion.
Whole Body Cryotherapy was developed in its original form in Japan in order to treat rheumatoid arthritis and inflammation. The cool temperatures from the Cryosauna gently force inflammation to subside, providing relief from joint pain for most patients immediately after use.
Depression and Anxiety
The ultra-cool air used in WBC causes the brain to release a higher-than normal level of endorphins and other “feel-good” hormones.

The NormaTec Compression Therapy systems use our patented NormaTec Pulse Technology to rapidly and effectively reduce edema and improve circulation in patients suffering from a wide variety of vascular conditions.
Floatation therapy, also known as isolation therapy or sensory deprivation therapy, is the popular practice of spending an hour or more floating peacefully on a 10” high water-filled floor within a floatation tank or float room. The floating effect is achieved through a water and Epsom salt solution, which makes the water so buoyant that you’re floating instead of sinking. To further the effect, all distractions have been removed such as light or visual stimuli, sense of touch due to the water being the same temperature as your skin, and sense of smell due to the Epsom salts nullifying any other scents, leaving you with just the feeling of floating!
The effects of gravity on your bones, joints, and muscles are also completely removed while floating. This vastly improves your circulation and allows your body to rejuvenate and heal itself. Research shows that floating measurably reduces your blood pressure and heart rate while at the same time lowering stress levels.
The effects of floating on your brain are also quite remarkable. The sensory deprivation slows your brain waves until they reach the theta state. This state is most common during deep meditation or just before falling asleep and is usually combined with vivid imagery, very clear, creative thoughts, sudden insights and inspirations or feelings of happiness. This is all thanks to the release of endorphins, the body’s natural opiates.
Floating is a wonderful way to nurture your mind, body and spirit. These positive effects are cumulative, so be sure to float regularly!
